Upon graduating from the British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Financial Accounting (Advanced Accounting) programme, Ann-Marie Carter, CPA enrolled in the British Columbia Certified General Accountant’s programme and began working for the Small Business Department of one of the Big 4 Public Accounting Firms. Ann-Marie prepared Notice to Reader Compilation and Review Engagements as well as performed Trust audits and participated in the T1 Personal Tax Pool.
After four years Ann-Marie left public practice for industry, gaining experience primarily in the Real Estate and Mortgage Lending sectors. During this time Ann-Marie grew an Accounting and Finance department from three combined staff to three separate departments of fourteen staff. She also researched, implemented, and trained staff on new accounting and reporting software systems along with liaising with third party Information Technology support regarding ongoing network hardware and software requirements.
In May of 2010 Ann-Marie decided to take on a new challenge by branching out on her own to provide Accounting and Consulting services. Her clients include smaller “shoe-box” type companies as well as more sophisticated businesses in the mortgage brokerage, manufacturing and property management industries. She is also a member of the QuickBooks Pro-Advisor programme and has volunteered as Treasurer for both the Commercial Real Estate Women’s association in Vancouver and the Casa de Macau Club (Vancouver).
